## Aliens versus Predator for PPC-AmigaOS 4

This is a PPC-AmigaOS 4 port of Aliens versus Predator, based on the
MorphOS port by Anders Granlund. This version has been adapted to use
SDL2 and Mesa for graphics and platform support instead of the
MorphOS-specific SDL 1.2/gl4es layer.

Full-motion video (FMV) cutscenes are not implemented in this build; the
game runs without them. Sound (including in-game music) is handled by
OpenAL via AHI.

## Requirements

To play this game you need the original PC version of either:

* Aliens versus Predator Gold Edition
* Aliens versus Predator Classic 2000 Edition

The Classic 2000 Edition can still be purchased on Steam and features
background music during gameplay.

You also need:

* AmigaOS 4.1 running on a supported PowerPC system
* SDL2 for AmigaOS 4.x
* Mesa

## Installation

Copy the original game data files from your PC installation of
Aliens versus Predator Gold Edition or Classic 2000 Edition into the
game directory.

## Usage

Command-line options:

  -f | --fullscreen   Force fullscreen mode
  -w | --windowed      Force windowed mode
  -j | --nojoy         Do not access the joystick
  -y | --vsync         Enable vertical sync
  -n | --novsync       Disable vertical sync (default)

Vertical sync is off by default, as this measurably improved performance
in testing; use -y if you prefer smoother, tear-free output over higher
frame rates.

Selectable screen resolutions range from 512x384 up to 2560x1440,
including common widescreen sizes (1280x720, 1366x768, 1440x900,
1600x900, 1680x1050, 1920x1080, 1920x1200); available resolutions
depend on what your display reports.

## Source code

The port is based on the MorphOS source release of Aliens vs Predator,
with the platform and graphics layer adapted to use SDL2 and Mesa, and
with a number of AmigaOS4/PPC-specific bug fixes (memory alignment,
save/load, and OpenAL cleanup on exit) applied on top.
